"The future of our nation, and the next generation is at stake. If Genetically Modified (GM) Food is not stopped from entering the country, we will have no surety for the youth of our nation or even our health" said Jai Krishna, Sustainable Agriculture campaigner for Greenpeace, at a press conference talking about the health hazards of GM Food. The conference was held to reveal the studies done on GM food and had eminent health experts and celebrities in the city take a stand against GM Food because of its threat to health and agriculture.

Union Health Minister vows to stop unsafe GM food

In the midst of a 10,000 party workers and farmers gathering from Tamil Nadu that thronged to listen to the Union Health Minister, Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, at a public meeting, Greenpeace campaigners took the minister by surprise by unfurling a banner message ‘Bt. Brinjal is injurious to health too’ and urging the Minister to take immediate action against Genetically Modified (GM) crops in the country. The direct action was part of Greenpeace’s campaign against the impending dangers of genetically modified food crops.

On the eve of the Global Day of Action on Climate Greenpeace highlighted the threat from global warming to the Ganges and called for an Energy [R]evolution[i] to save the iconic river from drying up. A flotilla of local boats carrying 15 ft replicas of windmills floated down the river to call for a shift from a carbon intensive energy pathway to one that focuses on clean renewable energy. Local boatmen and citizens joined Greenpeace in the activity at the Dasashvamedh Ghat demanding global action to save the Ganges that was their very lifeline.

GM food, potential threat to fertility: New study Will Dr. Ramadoss act now?

A study published this week by the Austrian government identified serious health threats of genetically engineered (GE) crops. In one of the very few long-term feeding studies ever conducted with GE crops, the fertility of mice fed with GE maize was found to be severely impaired, with fewer offspring being produced than by mice fed on natural crops. Considering the severity of the potential threat to human health and reproduction, Greenpeace is demanding a recall of all GE food and crops from the market, worldwide.
